World’s Oldest Female Bodybuilder Who Is 80 Years Old- Photos inside
After being named the oldest female body builder by the Guinness Book of World Records in both 2010 and 2011, Ernestine Shepherd began to publicly share the story of how she came to live a life of tenacity and perseverance beginning at the age of 56. Shepherd who recently urned 80 years on June 16 shared an inspiring post on Facebook.
Hello everyone! Happy Birthday to me! Thank you all for your kind words, notes, cards, emails and phone calls. I appreciate it from the bottom of my heart. I’ve been so busy enjoying my birthday that I forgot to post a birthday message to myself. I am 80 years young today and I thank God for bringing me this far. I’m still determined, I’m still dedicated and I’m still disciplined to be fit! I look forward to all that God has in store because I’m just getting started.
Shepherd celebrated her current success with the release of her book The “Ageless” Journey of Ernestine Shepherd, in which she writes about the secrets to her health and well-being. The book, which was released earlier this month, details the keys to her motivation,
- “Age is nothing but a number.” In addition to her mantra, “Determined, dedicated, disciplined to be fit,” Shepherd believes that “being out of shape as we age truly is merely an option – NOT a mandate!”
- Eat clean. Shepherd sticks to a daily diet of 1,700 calories, which includes egg whites, chicken and vegetables.
- Do the same workout every day. In an interview with Oprah, Shepherd revealed, “I do the same thing day in and day out.” This daily routine includes a workout that begins at 3 or 4am with a 10-mile run.
- Find what you like to do. The fitness trainer teaches classes of her own, but encourages people to exercise in whichever way they like. “Not everybody wants to be a body builder, not everybody wants to be a runner. But find what you like to do,” she told Oprah.
- Have something that motivates you. Although Shepherd finds strength in prayer, she says she owes most of her motivation to her late sister.
Remi Tinubu Petitions APC, Saraki- Dino Melaye Threatened To Rape Me, He Must Be Dealt With
Oluremi Tinubu, the senator representing Lagos Central, has petitioned the leaderships of the All Progressives Congress and the Senate over her clash, last week, with Dino Melaye, who represents Kogi West.
The petition followed an earlier letter to the acting Inspector of Police, Ibrahim Idris, in which she asked for “adequate security” for fear Mr. Melaye might kill her.
The two senators, who are members of the ruling APC, clashed during a Senate closed-door session last Tuesday.
In Mrs. Tinubu’s letters, separately delivered to the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, and APC Chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun, Tuesday, she expressed worry that the Senate leadership had not taken action to address Mr. Melaye’s “threatening misconduct”.
She gave her account of the clash.
“I was duly recognized to speak by the Senate President, after Senator Dino Melaye had spoken and berated some Senate colleagues over their perceived roles in the judicial case involving the Senate leadership,” she wrote in the letter to Mr. Oyegun.
“Although I remained silent and attempted no interjection during his statement, Senator Dino Melaye tried to abridge my right as a Senator by hectoring at me and interrupting my contribution. At one point, I cautioned him about the use of his language and the threats made, reminding him other Senators were there with equal right as he and represented their constituents.
“In a burst of apparent rage, Senator Melaye charged at me in what can only be seen as effort to attack me. The attack was only prevented by some respectful Senators who moved to impede his path or otherwise block him from approaching closer towards me. I thank those Senators for their personal courage and sense of decorum. Senator Melaye hurled foul and vulgar language at me. What he said should never be heard in any public institution let alone the floor of the Senate. Denigrating me as a woman, Senator Melaye threatened to beat me on the floor of the Senate just because I dared to express my opinion different from his.
“I am both a ranking Senator and a woman. But Senator Melaye took neither into consideration as he issued threats of rape and assault, while boasting he would face no consequence even if he fulfilled these criminal threats,” Mrs. Tinubu narrated.
On Thursday, Mr. Melaye admitted to clashing with Mrs. Tinubu, but said he only hit back furiously after Mrs. Tinubu called him a thug and a dog.
Mrs. Tinubu, in her letter to Mr. Oyegun, expressed regret that her and Mr. Melaye belong to the same party, and that the silence of the Senate leadership suggested “condoning the errant behaviour of the Senator”.
She asked the APC leadership to “investigate this matter in order to restore the public image and moral standing of the Party and APC members in the Senate”.
The lawmaker wrote that Mr. Melaye’s conduct “places the Party in disrepute and undermines the unity needed to accomplish the sober task to reform Nigeria for the better”.
“We must start by ensuring our own members know how to behave, according decorum, befitting their elected positions,” she said.
In the letter to Mr. Saraki, Mrs. Tinubu said during the session “over which you presided as the Senate President”, Mr. Melaye used “blatantly sexist and misogynist language offensive to every woman in Nigeria and every person who truly believes gender discrimination has no place in the Nigeria we are trying to build for ourselves and future generations”.
She said she had refrained from public comments in view of the Senate’s integrity, but complained that Mr. Melaye, “has become unmoved and has since paraded his misconduct in public as if to threaten a Female Senator is a badge of pride”.
Mr. Melaye, three days ago, roamed Mrs. Tinubu’s Bourdillion Road neighbourhood in Lagos and then posted photographs of his adventure on social media, saying Eru Obodo (the river is never afraid of those swimming in it). The Kogi Senator made the trip apparently in response to a statement by supporters of Mrs. Tinubu daring him to visit Nigeria’s South-West.
Kemi Nelson denies Collecting N75m From Remi Tinubu To Protest Against Melaye’ –
Women Leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Kemi Nelson has denied claims, by Senator Dino Melaye, that she received N75 million to organize a rally against him.
Melaye, in a Facebook post on Monday, made the allegations against Kemi Nelson. But in a statement personally signed and released yesterday, Nelson said she doesn’t need to collect money from Remi Tinubu or her husband, Bola Tinubu whom are her mentors, to stage a protest.
She however confirmed that she and a group of women will be staging a protest in Abuja tomorrow against Dino Melaye
“What Melaye did was not just against Senator Tinubu, but against all women and against our democracy. We will not behave like Nero, who sleeps, while Rome burns.
“All right thinking members of the society must rise against this oppression and an open insult against women by a man that has done little or nothing for our democracy. We cannot pretend that nothing is happening, when such a sacrilege is being committed in our country.
“With what Melaye has done, he has been demystified and he should be recalled by his people without any delay. We cannot keep quiet at this material time.
Abia State INEC Boss Arrested by EFCC Over N20m Bribe Collected From Diezani
On Tuesday, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission detained the Abia State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mr. Sylvester Ezeani, for collecting N20 million in the buildup to the 2015 Presidential election.
According to reports, Ezeani collected the bribe to influence the outcome of the 2015 Presidential election in favour of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Ezeani, who was deployed to Cross Rivers State to conduct the election, reportedly took the money, which was part of the N241 million released out of the $115 million lodged with Fidelity Bank by immediate past Petroleum Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke, to manipulate the poll.
